Outreach
Revolutionizing school-parent communication.
Overview
Outreach is a web platform designed to make communication between schools and parents more transparent and collaborative. My role as UX Designer involved rethinking how parents join forums, share feedback, and access documents that inform policy decisions.
Challenge
Parents often struggled to stay engaged in school decision-making due to:
Scattered communication channels.
Lack of clarity in discussion processes.
Inaccessible or confusing policy documents.
Process
Research: Conducted interviews with parents and staff, uncovering issues of low trust, unclear communication, and difficulty tracking proposals.
Design:
Created simple onboarding flows for quick forum access.
Organized clear topic categories and pinned respectful dialogue guidelines.
Designed a centralized document hub for meeting notes and policy drafts.
Testing: Iterated designs to reduce clutter, added quick forum summaries, and improved mobile usability.
Solution
The redesigned platform allowed parents to:
Join forums with ease.
Contribute feedback in structured discussions.
Access key documents and proposals in one place.
This made policy engagement more approachable, transparent, and collaborative.
Impact
The new design gave parents a stronger voice in school policy discussions and improved trust in the process. Clearer structures and access points helped increase participation and fostered more respectful, productive dialogue.
